Rusk County Electric Co-operative Continues Tradition

Rusk County Electric Cooperative has been uniquely serving people for the past 63 years, enhancing both quality of life and enriching the community. The cooperative is based in Henderson with branch offices in Carthage and Lakeport.

Being member-owned is what makes RCEC unique. As business permits, members receive returns in the form of capital credits. It's a great way to keep your money in your community.

Electric cooperatives were created to serve people in ALL areas needed, not just densely populated areas. What would East Texas land values be worth if cooperatives had not made electricity available in all areas? Would there be less tax base to support schools, county agencies, etc.? Thanks to electric cooperatives, the answer to that question is still a mystery.RCEC returned approximately $750,000 in capital credits to its members in 1999, and over $2 million in the past five years. That's $2 million possibly still in circulation in the local economy, in local pockets. Rusk County Electric Cooperative enhances quality of life and enriches the local economy in a unique cooperative way.
