Hawthorn Funeral Home Historic Photos


The photos below are those on Our Hawthorn Heritage Series Collection I , Limited Edition Note Card Series, published to commemorate Hawthorn Funeral Home.  The collection when complete will showcase the history of the funeral home.

 

The Hawthorn Fleet circa 1940s - 1940 Pontiac ambulance and two late 40s Cadillac limousine style hearses are shown in front of original Hawthorn garage, part of which is still standing on the Tillery-Shamburger property adjoining the funeral home today.

The Men of Hawthorn's circa 1956 - This staff photo was taken to commemorate the longtime tenure and dedication of ( from left): Mr. James Mark Osbourne (over 60 years; Mr. Odis Martin "Stew" Stewart (over 26 years); Mr. Don Honeycutt Sr. (over 50 years); Mr. Armand U. Primeaux (over 20 years); and Mr. Jack Ransey (over 16 years).

 

   

The Hawthorn Funeral Home in its winter best circa 1920s - Chosen for the series to mark the change from The Hawthorn Funeral Home to the funeral home business and the establishment of the historic location at 307 W. Wellington, Carthage, Texas.
