Carthage Quilt Challenge - 2012

Carthage Main Street, the Panola Squares Quilt Club, and the Busy Quilters Guild of Panola County are proud to announce that we will be hosting the 9^th Annual "Piney Woods Quilt Festival" at the Carthage Community Shelter and Civic Center, April 20 and 21, 2012.  The show is open from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on Friday and from 9:00 – 4:00 pm on Saturday.  Admission is $3.00. 

The Piney Woods Quilt Festival enjoys the support of many local and area corporate and individual sponsors who make the show possible.  We are deeply grateful to all of them.

The event provides an opportunity for local and area clubs to highlight the growing interest in the skill and artistry of quilting.  In addition to classes and supportive instruction to new and experienced quilters, both clubs contribute to various charities including Project Linus and the Susan Komen Foundation.  Funds to support these activities are raised through the sale of tickets to win the donation quilt made by the joint membership of the two clubs. 

Each year the festival is fortunate to attract an increasing number of quality and interesting quilt projects for display.  The event also features a select group of vendors exhibiting new tools and fabrics.  Vendors will include quilt shops, sewing machine vendors and a scissor sharpener.  There will also be a “Country Store” with quilted crafts, small quilts and a potpourri of patterns, blocks, books, and other “no longer loved” items donated from the quilters’ collections.

A panel of independent judges will select the best quilts in each of several categories awarding prize money and ribbons.  Awards also recognize the “Best in Show" and a "Viewers Choice."   To participate in the Quilt Festival, you may request an entry form from Susie Evers, or you can pick up an entry form from the Carthage City Hall or you can download and print the entry form with the link above.  The entry fee is $3.00.  Mail the completed form to Susie Evers, 294 CR 208, Carthage, TX 75633.
