Texas is a cultural crossroads that has given birth to a rich and unexpected musical environment.  The Texas Music Road Trip Exhibit will be organized to focus on different regions of the state and to demonstrate how each region has contributed to this larger “cultural crossroads” that has Made Texas music so unique, diverse, and dynamic.

No other region of the country has had quite the same variety and configuration of ethnic cultures coexisting in such proximity and interacting in the same way as the American Southwest. Dr. Gary Hartman, Director, Center for Texas Music History, Texas State University, San Marcos, is leading the group. Mrs. Smith joins other board members that will include Casey Monahan, Director, Texas Music Office, Ray Benson, Asleep at the Wheel, Richard Bowden, Music City, Texas, Linden Jody Denberg, Manager, KGSR Radio, Austin, and Joe Nick Patoski, Texas Monthly

Mrs. Smith said she is extremely honored to have been asked to serve on this board and looks forward to working on this exhibit to further preserve Texas’ rich and diverse music history.  [back]
