waiting period for a card. Your
first card is free, with each additional card costing $2.00.
You must have your card present to check out materials or
use the computer.
Residents applying for a
library card must provide a picture ID and proof of
residence in Panola County. Acceptable examples of ID:
driver's license, ID card, utility bill, insurance card,
school or work ID, personal check. Exceptions are
offered for the following:
*Students of Panola College
*Panola County landholders with proof of ownership
*Commuters working permanently in Panola County with proof
of employment
*Grandparents with grandchildren visiting for the summer
If you do not qualify for a
library card, but would still like to access our high-speed
internet, a temporary pass may be obtained with proper
picture identification. This pass does not allow you to
check out materials from the library, and expires one week
from the date issued.

Sammy Brown Library Report
By Debbie
Godwin The
Sammy Brown Library wants to wish you a happy New Year and
encourage our community to take advantage of all the public
library resources available to help you keep your New Year
resolutions.
You want to save money?
Don’t buy or rent those DVD’s; use your library card and
watch them for free. The library has books on how to make
money, invest money, or save money. A paperback book can
cost you upwards of six dollars; you can borrow as many as
you need, keep them for two weeks, return them to the
library and take home as many more as you want. Renting one
movie a week and buying one paperback book per month cost
the average family $320.00 per year. If you rent two movies
every week, you will spend approximately $520.00 per year.
If your resolution is to
get healthy, check out our diet books, cooking light
cookbooks, and exercise books and videos.
Need to get organized in
2010? We have some great books on getting and staying
organized at home or at work.
