tml-award Recently City Officials attended the Texas Municipal League State Convention in San Antonio and were presented the award honoring the College View All Ages All Abilities Park, vying with other cities throughout the state. According to TML, "The 2022 Texas Municipal League MunicipalTML Award Excellence Awards recognize and encourage the achievements of Texas cities in meeting the challenge of municipal government. Innovative problem-solving, excellence in management, increasing citizen participation, and reaching toward higher service levels are all daily occurrences in Texas cities, and they deserve recognition. This awards program seeks out the best of these programs to honor. It is through the recognition of the best of the best that all Texas cities share and learn from these achievements.

According to Jessica Pace who was instrumental in getting the park funded and built says, "It is truly amazing to see how this park has accomplished its goal of bringing families and friends of all abilities together. Even though the park opened at the beginning of winter, there has yet to be a day when the park is not full of families."

Mayor Olin Joffrion commented, "We are honored and proud to have received this award. Competing with projects from all cities under 25,000 throughout the state this project won. This was a fabulous project and a prime example of a municipality partnering with corporate and individual donors to create one of the best parks in East Texas. I’m so proud of our community."

The City of Carthage has been selected as one of three finalists for a 2022 Texas Municipal League Municipal Excellence Award for its entry— College View All Ages All Abilities Park— in the Public Works category for cities under 25,000.

The City fundraised $770,000 to develop College View Park. This unique park is all-inclusive and intergenerational, and promotes participation, healthy activity, and social interaction. It is the only one of its kind within 60 miles and serves as the sole National Demonstration Site for a park of its kind in East Texas.
